From Loomis up through Foresthill and Colfax, Placer County's foothills carry some of the heaviest manzanita and scrub-oak loads in the region. The fire risk follows the brush. We work this country by hand because the slopes ask for it.

The Placer foothills carry heavier brush than parts of El Dorado County. South-facing slopes around Auburn, Foresthill, and Colfax run thick with manzanita and buckbrush on ground that's often too steep for machine clearing. North-facing draws hold more conifer and mixed hardwood, with ladder fuels that make crown fire a real risk if a ground fire gets going.
Wind exposure is the other variable. The American River canyon funnels weather, and a windy fall day in Foresthill is different from one in Cameron Park. That changes which side of the property gets the most defensible-space attention and where it's worth cutting the brush a little wider than the rulebook minimum.
